Failsafe Recipe
My first recipe post! If your not the most confident in the kitchen a failsafe recipe is a must have for sure. Mine is a Blueberry and Lemon Drizzle cake, I just can't seem to go wrong with it. It's a Marks&Spencer recipe.
Serves 9.
225g Butter plus extra for greasing
225g golden caster sugar
4 eggs beaten
250g self-raising flour sifted
Finely grated rind of 1 lemon
25g ground almonds
Juice of 1 lemon
200g fresh blueberries
Topping:
Juice of 2 lemons
115g golder caster sugar
55g icing sugar
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Grease a cake tin and line with baking paper.
Put the butter and caster sugar in a bowl and beat together until light & fluffy. Gradually beat in the eggs, adding a little flour towards the end to prevent curdling. Beat in the lemon rind, then fold in the remaining flour and the almonds with enough lemon juice to give a dropping consistency.
Fold in three quarters of the blueberries and spoon into the prepared tin. Smooth the surface, then scatter the remaining blueberries on top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, until firm to the touch and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Meanwhile, make the topping. Put the lemon juice and caster sugar into a bowl and mix together. As soon as the cake comes out the oven, prick it all over with a fine skewer and pour over the lemon mixture. Mix the icing sugar with a little water and drizzle over the cake. Leave in the tin until completely cold, then cut into squares.
Try it! And let me know how you get on...

Not Playing By The Rules!
Hey!
So I have been inspired by Caitlin at
http://woreout.wordpress.com/2011/12/09/black-and-tan/
to bend the "rules" of fashion. Her post was pairing black with tan which I loved! I thought I would try print on print. I mixed print leggins with a print handbag. What do you think?
I love mixing up patterns but I think the rule to stick to for me is don't mix more than two patterns.
Here's the look without the bag...
White top - Zara
Polo neck - Primark
Gillet - River Island
Leggins - New Look
Boots - Primark
Headpiece - Can't remember!
Bag - Stylist Pick

Would love see what fashion rules you break.

Date Night OOTD
So my date night outfit! The shoes I had in my Haul blog in November. I love these shoes, their high but really comfortable. The bag is a new purchase from Stylist Pick. Their website is amazing, you take a quiz so they can identify your style then they email you a lookbook each month with things that they have selected for you based on your personal style. Everything is £39.95 but I got this bag in the sale when they had everything for £15. Check out their website...

I love this bag, its a real statement piece and I can get all my stuff in there!
The treggins are from H&M in the sale online. Their faux leather on the front and stretchy material around the back, they are so comfy! The top and coat are charity shop finds. The perfume of the night is Loverdose by Diesel which you should really go and smell as it is amazing.
I didn't accessorise much because of the patterned top and bag. What do you think of this outfit?

Leather, Spots and Swing Skirts
Hey! Just a few little things I've picked up recently.
These I saw online on H&M in the sale and I'm really happy with them. There so comfortable. I love the leather look on the front. The back is elasticated so they fit really well with my body shape. £7.99
This piece I found in one of my local charity shop. Its by MaxMara. Love the shape and the loose sleaves. On the back there are lovely black sparkly buttons. £3
Again in H&M online in the sale they have these jumpers for £1.99 so I got one! Too much of a bargain not too really. I love the shoulder detail and it fits so well.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am addicted to scarves and I fell in love with this scarve from H&M. The design is so pretty and goes with so many things. £6.99
I love skirts and wear them alot. I'm really into 50's style swing skirts and when I saw this online on H&M I had to have it. I love the bow on the front. Again it was in the sale for £7.99.
Last but not least this shift dress from Miss Selfridge really court my eye. It has a silver zip down the back which looks amazing. I love the contrast of the dark navy blue dress and the long silver zip and the shoulder pads give it that dramatic look. £20 in the sale.
Hope you didn't get too bored!

So Laque!
Loving Bourjois So Laque colletion at the moment. What do you think of this?
Santal Opulent 34. I would describe as inbetween a really dark purple and brown.
It dries shiney and last for a few days on me which is pretty good! Can't wait to see what other colours they add to their collection.

Autumn/Fall Haul
Hello! I'm so excited to do a haul, it's been so long! There have been a few good sales on recently and also during the summer I went to a few car boot sales (if you don't know what that is it's an outdoor sale at which people sell things from the trunk of their car) so I've include some of my car boot purchases too.
First up its the shoes! These I fell in love with in House Of Fraser. Full price they were £130 but I got them for £39. I love the colour, sort of like a yellow/green.
KG Heels £39 |
I had to think about the next ones for about a week. I wasn't sure how to wear these but actually after I thought about it, they are very versatile. I wear heels ALOT. If I could I would clean my toilet in heels. I'm definitely a heels person. But I also love my ballet pumps....I digress... These were also House Of Fraser originally priced at £130 but also down to £39. These are real leather too.
French Connection £39 |
On the flesh! |
River Island £3. Headband - Accessorise |
Up close and personal |
Zara |
A while back I went to a market in London in Liverpool Street. I can't remember what it's called but they
had some amazing things there. I adore this tassel mustard bag. I have a thing for the colour mustard at the moment. £18. Tweet me if you have mustard love to! :)
London Market £18 |
Another House Of Fraser find. This is a real leather clutch bag that a full price would of set you back £89 but because the strap was missing it went down to £16 would you believe!! I would of taken the strap off anyway when I got home.
House Of Fraser £16 |
Linning |
Another car boot find. Another clutch bag. The bow like-ness-thing is really girly and I love the stud detail, it gives it that edge. £2
£2 |
Carboot £4 |
Charity/Thrift shop |
New Look £17.99 |
Warehouse £3 |
Dorothy Perkins £2 |
Mustard Love! |
Dorothy Perkins £2 |
Warehouse £3 |
Phew! That's it for one blog post. Hope you didn't get too bored. :)
Thanks for reading, have a great day!
Lyndsey
